Welcome to your departure from life. I will be your guide into the world of beyond. Follow me as we go through the stages of preparation, until your final interment. Here at the Underground Living Mortuaries we will take the finest care of you. No need to worry, this is what we’ll die for.
Will the family of the deceased please come forward? I know this is a hard time for you with such an unfortunate tragedy that has happened, but I am here to help in any way that I can. We do need to know what kind of service will be preformed. We cater to many religions from Catholic to Buddha - Krishna to Christ, and each religion has certain beliefs associated with their funeral procession. As the Buddhists do, they will ask for their loved one’s hands to be placed in the prayer position, so as the friends and family members can come up and set prayer beads on top (Sloan). If you know of a priest that will perform the service, a time and day will be set, and if you like we can either do it here at the funeral home, in your church, or even at your house.
Flowers can be arranged by us, but if you have a shop in mind I will leave it in your hands. Same as the obituary notices, we used to call the newspapers and set it up, but more often than not the families thought it was easier to do it themselves because they can decide what to write (Sloan). Now, when we receive the body how would you like it prepared?
GUEST BOOK JOURNAL ENTRY:
The family wanted the body to be placed in a casket and dressed in a suit that they will provide. I told them that it was fine, but I really thought that cremating the body would be less expensive. For me, I know that the body burns at sixteen hundred degrees for two and a half hours, maybe they know that too and that’s why they don’t want the remains destroyed (Sloan)?
GUEST BOOK JOURNAL ENTRY CONTINUED, NEW ENTRY:
We just brought back the body from the morgue, and now it is laying on the stretcher waiting for preparation. It is in fine condition there will be no need to restore this one, just embalm.
I do know about swelling and blistering when a body is left for days until it is found (Sloan). Sometimes it is so bad that we ask the family if they would like a closed casket. Of course with other bodies we receive we do the best we can with restorative wax, prosthetic limbs, and liquid dies (Sloan).
Luckily we did not have to wait for the family to decide what to do with the remains, so no refrigeration was involved. If twenty four hours were to elapse without embalming, then state law requires us to refrigerate the body (BLS P. 5).
GUEST BOOK JOURNAL, NEW ENTRY:
We received the clothing for the body from the family, and I have to say he had great taste. The suit they provided is a lot better than the clothes we would have given him (Sloan). All I need to do is fix his hair and place him in the coffin. Even, the casket they have chosen is superb. From the least expensive, which is around two hundred dollars that is pretty much a pine box, to the highest priced casket with gold accents that can be up to twelve hundred dollars, the one they have chosen is very tasteful (Slo
